**UPDATE - 3:23 p.m.**
Crews continue to work on a number of watermain breaks in South Porcupine / Porcupine. Residents and businesses in the area may experience lower than normal to no water pressure while repairs are completed. Full disruption of water service will be temporary if required.
Road closures remain in effect for all locations while work is being carried out:
- Harold Ave. - repairs are complete. Ready for water restoration and preventative sampling.
- Intersection of Summers and Smith
- Tisdale from Goldrush to Smith
- Essa between Crawford and Main
- Legion between William and Shamrock
- Eric Cr.
- Northern College service interruption still in effect. This is a private break. Contractors will be completing repair.
Repairs to a watermain break on Dwyer Ave. have also been completed.
Work is expected to continue until late this evening. City staff would like to thank residents for their patience and cooperation.
The City of Timmins will continue to provide updates as needed.
The City of Timmins Environmental Services & Public Utilities department wishes to advise the public of emergency infrastructure maintenance activities that may affect water quality on Harold Ave., Legion Dr., Eric Cr., and the intersection of Summers and Smith, with an additional service interruption for Northern College. Crews are on site now.
All homes and businesses in the affected area could experience water loss, discoloured water, and lower than normal water pressures.
If brown or rust-colored water occurs during infrastructure maintenance, it is not recommended to drink or wash laundry with the discolored water. While it is not harmful to your health, it can stain clothing and linens. Should this occur, it is advised to turn on the COLD water tap closest to the source (usually your laundry tub tap) and let it run for approximately 15-20 minutes or until the water color has returned to normal.
City staff would like to thank residents for their patience and cooperation during this work.
