An extreme cold weather alert has been issued for Tuesday, December 23, 2025. Temperatures are expected to drop to -25 overnight, inclusive of wind chill.
Exposure to extreme cold temperatures can cause serious and sometimes even life-threatening health problems, such as frostbite and hypothermia. Protection from extreme cold conditions includes avoiding wind exposure, dressing in warm layers, and covering exposed skin.
People requiring emergency shelter can attend the location at 316 Spruce St. S. for assistance.

Holiday schedule for municipal services.
Wednesday, December 24, 2025:
- Service Timmins and the Provincial Offenses Centre will close at 2:30 p.m.
- The Archie Dillon Sportsplex Pool will close at 1:00 p.m.
- Cemetery office will close at 2:00 p.m.
- Timmins Economic Development office will close at 2:30 p.m.
- Timmins Transit regular bus service ends at 6:00 p.m.
Thursday, December 25 & Friday, December 26, 2025:
- Service Timmins and Provincial Offenses Centre will be closed
- The Archie Dillon Sportsplex Pool will be closed
- The Cemetery office and Timmins Economic Development will be closed
- Residential waste and recycling collection that falls on December 25 will be collected on Friday, December 26, 2025
- Deloro Landfill, Tisdale Transfer Site and German Twp. Landfill will be closed
- There will be no Timmins Transit service on December 25 and Sunday service on December 26
Wednesday, December 31, 2025:

- The Archie Dillon Sportsplex Pool will close at 2:30 p.m.

- The Cemetery office and Timmins Economic Development will be closed

The City of Timmins Public Works Department would like to advise residents that, with approximately 10 cm of snow forecasted for Saturday, a city-wide snow plowing operation is scheduled to begin Sunday, December 21 at 12:01 a.m. and may continue throughout the day.
Crews will be out maintaining road and sidewalk conditions throughout Saturday, with a full deployment overnight. A dedicated crew will be plowing city streets, rural roads, laneways, and parking lots across the city.
We would also like to remind the public that the Winter Parking Ban is in effect. Parking on the street is not permitted on any day between the hours of 11:30 pm to 7:30 am, from November 1 through April 30.
