The City of Timmins Environmental Services Department wishes to advises all users west of the Mattagami River Bridge that the precautionary boil water advisory issued on Sept. 25, 2026, has been lifted.
The City of Timmins has conducted the required water sampling and the results have been reviewed and deemed satisfactory by both the City and Northeastern Public Health.
The precautionary Boil Water Advisory was issued following a planned water valve repair that caused a temporary loss of water pressure to users west of the Mattagami River Bridge. The advisory remained in effect until two consecutive sets of drinking water samples confirmed that the water met all required safety standards.
City staff would like to thank residents for their patience and cooperation.

The City of Timmins and Northeastern Public Health have issued a Precautionary Boil Water Advisory for all users west of the Mattagami River Bridge, effective September 25, 2026, at 2:00 a.m.
A Precautionary Boil Water Advisory was declared due to the loss of water pressure in the system resulting from a planned water valve replacement.
A boil water advisory requires you to take the following steps:
- Bring your water to a rolling boil for at least one minute prior to using it for domestic purposes, including drinking, making infant formula and juices, brushing teeth, washing raw foods and making ice;
- Wash dishes with boiled water that has been cooled or use potable water from an alternative source; and,
- All water taps must be posted, indicating that the water is not safe to drink.
The Precautionary Boil Water Advisory will remain in effect until the City obtains satisfactory drinking water results in two consecutive sets of samples taken a minimum of 24 hours apart.

On Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at approximately 4:38 p.m., the Timmins Fire Department responded to a structure fire at a residence on Kraft Creek Rd. Crews from Stations 1, 3, 4, and 5 were dispatched to the scene.
Firefighters worked to extinguish the fire using tankers to shuttle the water from a supply established at Timmins Pentecostal Church. The home is considered a total loss.
No one was home at the time of the fire and no injuries to residents were reported. A dog suffered minor injuries and was taken to a veterinarian for care.
An investigation was conducted following the fire, and the incident is not considered suspicious.
The Timmins Fire Dept. reminds residents to ensure working smoke alarms are installed on every level of their home and outside all sleeping areas. Residents should also have a home escape plan that includes a designated meeting place and practice the plan with everyone in their household.

The City of Timmins will lower flags at all municipal facilities from sunrise to sunset on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, also recognized as Orange Shirt Day, honours survivors of residential schools and the children who never came home. The day provides us with an opportunity to reflect on the history and ongoing impacts of residential schools and the importance of reconciliation.
Municipalities have an important role to play in fostering a culture of truth and reconciliation at the local level. This includes building respectful relationships with Indigenous Peoples and communities by considering how municipal decisions, services, and engagement can contribute to meaningful reconciliation.
The City encourages residents to learn, reflect, and consider the role each of us can play in advancing reconciliation in our community.
