The sale of Timmins Transit bus passes will move back to the Transit Terminal on Spruce St. S. effective Tuesday, August 8, 2023.

While renovations continue, residents will now be able to purchase their monthly bus pas or bus tickets directly where they catch the bus.

Thank you for your continued patience while we finish upgrades to the terminal building. Public washrooms will remain closed until work is completed.

The City of Timmins Environmental Services & Public Utilities department wishes to advise the public of a scheduled water infrastructure maintenance activity affecting water quality on Eric Cr. from houses 177/178 North to 164/165. This is scheduled to start on August 2,2023 from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

All homes and businesses in the affected area could be without water for a few hours, as well discolored water and lower than normal water pressures

Homeowners in that area may experience brown or rust-colored water during the schedule water maintenance. It is recommended not to drink or wash laundry with the discolored water. While it is not harmful to your health, it can stain laundry. Should this occur, it is advised to turn on the COLD water tap closest to the source (usually your laundry tub tap) and let it run for approximately 15-20 minutes or until the water color has returned to normal.

City staff would like to thank residents for their patience and cooperation during this work.

**UPDATE - 3:23 p.m.**

Crews continue to work on a number of watermain breaks in South Porcupine / Porcupine. Residents and businesses in the area may experience lower than normal to no water pressure while repairs are completed. Full disruption of water service will be temporary if required. 

Road closures remain in effect for all locations while work is being carried out:

- Harold Ave. - repairs are complete. Ready for water restoration and preventative sampling.
- Intersection of Summers and Smith
- Tisdale from Goldrush to Smith
- Essa between Crawford and Main
- Legion between William and Shamrock
- Eric Cr.
- Northern College service interruption still in effect. This is a private break. Contractors will be completing repair.

Repairs to a watermain break on Dwyer Ave. have also been completed.

Work is expected to continue until late this evening. City staff would like to thank residents for their patience and cooperation. 

The City of Timmins will continue to provide updates as needed. 

 


The City of Timmins Environmental Services & Public Utilities department wishes to advise the public of emergency infrastructure maintenance activities that may affect water quality on Harold Ave., Legion Dr., Eric Cr., and the intersection of Summers and Smith, with an additional service interruption for Northern College. Crews are on site now. 

All homes and businesses in the affected area could experience water loss, discoloured water, and lower than normal water pressures.

If brown or rust-colored water occurs during infrastructure maintenance, it is not recommended to drink or wash laundry with the discolored water. While it is not harmful to your health, it can stain clothing and linens. Should this occur, it is advised to turn on the COLD water tap closest to the source (usually your laundry tub tap) and let it run for approximately 15-20 minutes or until the water color has returned to normal.

Contractors for the Connecting Link are wrapping up line painting on Algonquin Blvd. between the Mattagami Bridge and Mountjoy St. intersection this week.

Work on Segment 7 continues with blasting of the storm and water trench, which will facilitate installation of underground infrastructure.

Crews on Segment 2 of the Connecting Link between Shirley St. and Government Rd. have started work on catch basins and concrete installation on the south side of Riverside Dr. Beginning next Tuesday, August 08, work will move to the Walmart and Emerald St. intersection and include culvert replacement, lighting upgrades, and asphalt preparation. Work is anticipated to happen over 2-3 days. The entrance to Walmart will be kept open at all times with minor lane reductions.

Commercial motor vehicles are reminded that the detour along Shirley St. to Laforest Rd. remains in effect.

The City of Timmins Environmental Services department wishes to advise the public of a Preventative Boil Water Advisory.

Area: Pine Ridge Motel & Trailer Court
Date of Advisory: July 30th, 2023 until further notice.

The City of Timmins is requiring residents to take the following steps:

  • Users of the water supply should bring their water to a rolling boil for one minute prior to consumption;
  • Any water used for cooking/food preparation must be boiled then cooled prior to use; and
  • All water taps must be posted, indicating that the water is not safe to drink.

The Preventative Boil Water Advisory will remain in effect until the sample results confirm the water is fit for human consumption. City staff would like to thank residents for their patience and cooperation during this necessary process, and advise that if there are any questions, concerns or requests for additional information, they may contact the Service Timmins at 705-264-1331 during business hours. After-hours emergencies should be directed to 705-264-1201.

Crews will be replacing a watermain valve with work starting Monday, July 31 from 11:00 a.m. to approximately 4:00 p.m.

Homes and businesses in the affected area could be without water for a few hours, as well experience discolored water and lower than normal water pressure. If discoloured water occurs, it is recommended not to drink or wash laundry. While the water is not harmful to your health, it can stain clothing and linens. It is advised to turn on the COLD water tap closest to the source (usually your laundry tub tap) and let it run for approximately 15-20 minutes or until the water color has returned to normal.

Work is expected to be completed by 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 27, 2023.

  • City crews will be flushing hydrants on Polaris Rd., O’Neil Ave., and Carlin Ave.
  • Time of Disruption: July 26, 2023 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Homeowners and businesses in the area may experience short-term loss in water pressure or experience brown or rust-coloured water following the testing. It is recommended not to drink or wash laundry with the discoloured water. While it is not harmful to your health, it can stain laundry. Should this occur, it is advised to turn off your tap for 10-20 minutes in order to allow the crew to complete hydrant flushing. Once flushing is complete and the work crew has left the area, turn on the COLD water tap closest to the source (usually your laundry tub tap) and let it run for approximately 15-20 minutes or until the water colour has returned to normal.
