Short-Term Rental Operators / Hosts

Short-term Rental accommodations are buildings, rooms, or structures that operate as a temporary residence for a period of less than 28 consecutive days, not including motels, hotels, or bed and breakfasts. Short-term rental operators are people renting out their homes or rooms on a short-term basis for a period of less than 28 consecutive days.

Operators and owners for Short-term Rental accommodations in the city of Timmins are required to license their accommodation as a business under By-law 2025-9085. Effective January 14, 2025, properties being used as short-term rentals are required to follow the City's property and occupancy standards, health and safety regulations, and collect the Municipal Accommodation Tax (MAT) of 4% per Short-term Rental property.

A licence is valid for a period of one (1) year from January 1 of each year. The yearly licence fee is pro-rated if a new application is received after January 1.
