Timmins Transit On-Demand is a microtransit service that is being tested in Porcupine and South Porcupine. The on-demand, shared-ride service launched Tuesday, September 3, 2024, and allows riders traveling to and from Porcupine and South Porcupine to reserve real-time rides that will connect them to Timmins Transit’s conventional bus service. The price per ride is the same as using regular bus service. See Fares.
Timmins Transit On-Demand provides shared-ride public transit trips between any two designated bus stop locations within Porcupine and South Porcupine. Unlike our traditional fixed-route service, you request a trip through the mobile app, web portal, or by calling Timmins Transit (705-360-2600 ext. 3504). Our smaller-sized, fully accessible buses will pick you up at your closest bus stop and drop you off at the bus stop closest to your destination in Porcupine or South Porcupine, while picking up other riders along the way.
This is Timmins Transit your way … and it will revolutionize travel to and from Porcupine and South Porcupine! An expanded service area, more virtual stops, convenient in-app payment and real-time trip notifications will make it even easier to plan travel.
Quick tips to get you started:
- No booking needed for conventional bus transit: You don’t need to book a trip if you’re using regular bus service. Just hop on whenever you’re ready to go.
- Curb-to-curb Service: Microtransit is a curb-to-curb service. The app will guide you to the nearest virtual stop for easy pick-up and drop-off. Just follow the app’s directions.
- Check your zone: Make sure your trips are within the designated microtransit zone to ensure service availability. You can find the zone map in the app (or below).

Virtual Bus Stops
With the launch of Timmins Transit On-Demand, designated bus stops will now include both traditional bus stops marked by signage, and virtual bus stops. Virtual bus stops allow for more convenient locations close to riders. They are not marked by signage. When you book your ride using Timmins Transit On-Demand, you will be directed to wait at these locations, including the correct side of the street, in order to meet your shared ride.
