What number to call and when?
In an emergency, seconds count. Which means, knowing who to call in a non-emergency is just as important to make effective use of vital resources like fire, ambulance and police.

If there is an immediate to personal safety, crime or theft
Call 9-1-1 immediately if a robbery is in progress; if there is a fire; or, risk of injury or harm. Examples of an emergency include fire, crime in progress, medical emergency, suspicion of carbon monoxide or gas leak.
House or vehicle break-in, stolen property, aggressive panhandling, trespassing
Call 705-264-1201 (TPS Dispatch) to report a home or vehicle break-in that is NOT in progress, or if someone is trespassing on private property, but there is no risk of personal harm. TPS dispatching can also be called for aggressive panhandling that poses a threat to your personal safety, or the safety of others. Other examples include Examples fraud, a driving complaint, property damage, damage to a vehicle, graffiti, or illegal parking.
Outreach Services for urban Indigenous community members
Mushkegowuk Fire Keeper Patrol provides outreach services for individuals experiencing homelessness, substance abuse/addiction, and mental health concerns in Timmins. The goal of the Fire Keeper Program is to provide ongoing outreach with our Fire Keeper Patrol team, to reduce the number of people suffering from homelessness and link them to the services, programs, and ongoing supports to assist them in securing sustainable housing in the Timmins area. Their mandate is to provide culturally appropriate outreach service to urban Indigenous members, but also provide broader outreach in the community as needed.
Services: mental health support, counselling referrals, land-based detox referrals, safe bed referrals, client advocacy, transportation to medical appointments, hygiene kids, trauma supports.

Waste in public spaces including public parks and laneways
Call 705-264-1331 to report waste in public spaces like parks and laneways. If the garbage is on City property, staff will have it cleaned up.
Waste on private property
Call 705-264-1331 to report illegal dumping, yard waste, or litter on private property. Enforcement Services will work with the property owner or property management to investigate and respond. Drug-related litter / Sharps collection:
Please contact Service Timmins at 705-264-1331 to report sharps on public property. You can also request sharps collection online at service.timmins.ca. Public Works carries out collection of drug-related litter on public property only.
Encampments
Call 705-264-1331 and Enforcement Services will investigate and respond if necessary. An encampment is defined as a single tent or group of tents - locations where one or more people live in an unsheltered area set-up on private or public property. Watermain break or sewer back-up
Call 705-264-1331 Monday to Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. to report water or sewer concerns. After hours, call TPS dispatch at 705-264-1201
